Decramastic Roofs

No matter what style of roof you have the process is similar.

1. Cleaning

We begin each decramastic tile restoration project with a full roof assessment to determine its current state. If moss is present and hasn’t been recently treated, moss remediation is typically necessary.

For roofs containing asbestos, we employ a low-pressure soft wash (under 300psi) to avoid disturbing the hazardous material. In these cases, we postpone waterblasting for 2 to 6 months after treatment, depending on the level of moss regrowth. For non-asbestos roofs, waterblasting can proceed just 48 hours following moss treatment.

We usually collect a sample for asbestos analysis, and results are generally available within 3 to 5 business days. If asbestos is detected, the extended waiting period applies. Otherwise, we move forward with waterblasting within the 48-hour window.

2. Preparation and Repairs

Any loose nails will be carefully removed and replaced with high-quality screws for a significantly more secure hold that enhances the longevity of the roofing structure. In addition, ridges, valleys, and flashings will also be thoroughly inspected during this process, with necessary repairs or replacements carried out promptly to ensure the roof’s integrity is maintained and to prevent any potential leaks or damage in the future.

3. Rust Treatment

Sections with red or white rust will be treated with a rust converter or anti-corrosive primer to stabilize the affected areas and prevent further spread.
