The roof coating system is a comprehensive solution tailored to suit different types of roofs.
Proudly developed and produced in New Zealand, it is specifically engineered to deliver optimal adhesion to each roof surface while ensuring maximum. We use the latest advancements in 100% acrylic technology to provide durable protection that stands up to the unique weather conditions found across New Zealand.
Before any coating begins, your we will first carry out essential repairs and maintenance.
This includes tasks like re-bedding or repointing any cracked or damaged cement mortar on the ridge and hip capping. Cracked or broken tiles will be replaced, and any that have shifted out of place will be properly repositioned.
If your roof is severely worn, heavily pitted, or overly porous (meaning it readily absorbs water), recoating may not be a viable long-term solution. In such cases, we’ll let you know upfront — we don’t believe in quick fixes or work that won’t last.
Regarding roof leaks: if your roof is already leaking prior to restoration, your Kowhai technician will assess whether it’s something they can handle, or if it requires attention beyond the scope of a standard restoration.
It’s important to understand that a roof restoration is designed to weatherproof the roof surface — such as sealing porous concrete tiles to prevent water absorption. However, it doesn’t address underlying structural components that are hidden from view. If leak repairs demand a more in-depth inspection, this would fall outside the typical restoration process.
While rare, if a leak results from our restoration work, we’ll take responsibility and resolve it. More commonly, any future leaks tend to arise from unrelated roofing components. These issues are usually easy to pinpoint, and in most cases, our team can help — though additional work may require a separate quote.
If your roof is in suitable condition, restoration is a great option. It can extend the lifespan of your roof by an additional 15 to 20 years and give it a fresh, like-new appearance.
Roof replacement can be costly, inconvenient, and resource-intensive. By choosing to maintain and restore what we already have, we not only preserve our investment but also take a more environmentally responsible approach.

Signs such as leaks, water stains on ceilings, or visible wear may indicate the need for roof repair. Our team can conduct a comprehensive inspection to determine the condition of your roof.
Restoring terracotta tiles is definitely possible, but the process differs significantly from that used for concrete or decramastic tiles. Over time, terracotta can become quite fragile due to its age and composition.
Since these tiles are made from clay, they tend to be much more porous and can hold onto moisture. Because of this, we typically suggest a thorough clean followed by re-glazing, rather than applying a standard coating.
We can evaluate your roof and determine whether your terracotta tiles are in good enough condition for restoration.
Over time, contaminants like dirt, moss, and airborne pollutants can wear down your roof’s protective coating. Regular cleaning and moss treatment help preserve the roof’s appearance and extend its longevity.
To uphold your warranty, an approved professional must service your roof with a moss treatment every three years. This maintenance is straightforward, affordable, and ensures your roof stays in top condition for years to come.
